Sean Van Dort - Director, Shipping, Logistics and Digital Services Integration, MAS Holdings
Sean counts over 40 years of experience in liner shipping, logistics operations management, and National and International import & export, sales, and marketing.
His career began in 1985 as a Junior Shipping Executive and rose to the position of Liner Manager at The Australian National Lines (Australia), Cho Yang Container Lines (South Korea), and IVARAN Container Lines (Norway) through their agency network. He then worked at several multinational companies, including WestTrans International (Pvt) Limited (USA) and Antwerp Plastic Merchandising HKG (Pvt) Limited.
Sean joined MAS Active (Pvt) Limited as General Manager of Shipping & Logistics in 2006 and was promoted as Director of Shipping, Logistics & Digital Services Integration subsequently at MAS Holdings (Pvt) Limited in 2021. In his current role, he leads initiative in digitalization of import export and logistics operations. As a committee member of the Export Development Board logistics pillar, he is a team member of the single window/paperless trade and the air cargo community system which is to be implemented at all airports in Sri Lanka.
He is the current Chairman of the Joint Apparel Association Forum – Logistics Subcommittee, and the Sri Lankan Apparel Exporters Association. He played a pivotal role in establishing the Hub Act (2013) along with the joint Apparel Association Forum, the Sri Lanka customs and the Ministry of Finance. He was instrumental in establishing the business to consumer (B2C) gazette in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Customs and the Ministry of Finance in 2015. He is a Committee Member of the National Chamber of Exporters and represented Sri Lanka at the International Chambers of Commerce in Geneva working group on Sathe national export strategy of Sri Lanka. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Global Shippers Forum (based in the UK), and serves as an expert resource on initiatives by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board, Sri Lanka Customs, the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and Ministry of Ports & Shipping
