Rene Piil Pedersen - Managing Director & Chief Group Representative

Rene Piil Pedersen is the Managing Director of A.P. Moller Singapore Pte Ltd (Maersk). In that capacity, he has been based in Singapore for nearly 15 years, overseeing a fleet of approximately 150 Maersk-owned and controlled container vessels registered in Singapore and Hong Kong.

In addition to his role as Managing Director, Rene Piil Pedersen serves as Chief Group Representative, overseeing Government Relations and Public Affairs across
South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania. In this capacity, he is responsible for strengthening Maersk’s presence in key growth markets, fostering strategic partnerships, and engaging with governments and stakeholders to shape policy dialogues that support sustainable growth and economic development across Asia.

Prior to this current appointment, his career spans diverse geographies—including Europe, the United States, and South America-where he has worked extensively in business development, trade facilitation, and government relations.

Rene Piil Pedersen holds a Master of Science degree in Economics from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and an Advanced Management Program (AMP) credential from IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. He has further enriched his expertise through executive education programs at INSEAD, IMD, Oxford University, and other leading international business schools.
